I’m extremely proud (and excited) to tell everyone, that Swedish Startup Space, a small blog we started over a year ago is expanding out of Stockholm and into Göteborg. What does that mean? Well, we’ve bought on some great people onto our team, who will work from Göteborg and help cover the growing tech scene there. We’ve seen epic growth in the #sthlmtech community this past year, so we’d love for the energy and passion to spread into #gbgtech also. It also means that we need a little help from local startups and businesses – to help take the tech community to the next level. The first of our Göteborg-based partners is Humblebee – a digital studio focused on helping entrepreneurs take their MVP’s and turn them into ideas.
Strawbees is a product that claims to enable people to build huge mechanical objects from standard straws and cardboard. They launched their Kickstarter a few weeks back and it closed last Thursday, pulling in $91 660 from 1 743 different people. Anders caught up with one of the founders, Gustaf Josefsson.

Destly is an online travel club that offers discounts on hand picked hotels. The idea is to provide customers with more inspiring travel experiences at a better price. Many hotels are not fully booked constantly and the company therefore has a deal with many of these to rent out rooms at a discount during periods of lower occupancy. I sat down with the CEO and co-founder Louise Brudö, who spoke about Destly’s progression and the ups and downs of the business.

Gastrofy is a new and original Gothenburg startup. The company creates a value chain between recipe sites and e-grocers. When using Gastrofy you can choose from a vast amount of recipes and create your personal food bag, which then gets delivered to your home. Lukas met with co-founders Robin Rendahl and Felix Bengtsson to discuss the origin of the idea and their journey up until today.
Remente, a startup that creates digital tools which help you reach your goals and unleash your potential. Lukas recently sat down with co-founder David Brudö, a creative entrepreneur in Gothenburg, where he talked about the evolvement of Remente and which challenges they face.
Merlind Sophia Hinz contacted us about a community that is forming as we speak in Gothenburg. We’ve seen similar events and communities like Geek Girl and Thursday Code Pub in Stockholm who targets women in startups and developers, and it’s now time for Gothenburg!
Four years later Burt holds their own with 21 employees and offices in both Sweden and the United States. Today they have a clear focus: helping media houses to turn their web presence into a profitable business. We met Gustav von Sydow (CEO) and Fredrik Grahn (CFO) to talk about their road to the successful business they run today, the pitfalls and the hard choices.
