Paradox Interactive asks fans for help in the hunt for a new board member

Written by on November 4, 2015

Video game developer Paradox Interactive who among other games has made a success with Cities Skylines are adding a seat to its board.

To choose the right candidate, the company seeks help from its millions of fans through live streaming platform Twitch. Candidates are also wanted through discussion forum and news site Reddit.

“Board recruitments are usually pretty closed processes, you recruit within known networks and it’s difficult to find people with new angles of approach. We are simply trying to do something which feels new and fresh. Transparency all the way up to managerial level is important to us”, CEO of Paradox Interactive, Fredrik Wester says.

On monday he talked to the fans on Twitch. Fans were given an opportunity to air their opinion regarding the profile of demands and leave suggestion for questions to be asked during the interviews with the chosen candidates.

“We are looking for someone who has held a leading position within IT or media and would be happy to work with games as well. The person should understand new and innovative business models”, Fredrik Wester says.

Do you think the fans are interested in giving their opinion regarding the recruitment?

“I believe that the fans might have a few things to say, above all what questions we can ask the candidates”.

The new board member will be in place before year’s end. The process is handled by recruitment agency Women Executive Search.

“Our business is rather male-dominated, but it doesn’t have to be a woman for the sake of it. We want someone who can add something truly great to Paradox”

The company’s acquisition of role playing company White Wolf Publishing for several million dollars was finalized last week. Icelandic conglomerate CCP Games were the sellers.
