Finally, the trend from the US and Canada has arrived in Sweden (check out TaskRabbit and AskforTask). Domytask.se is a peer-to-peer online market place for services, similar to the Gothenburg startup we wrote about a while ago, Butlr. Entering the same space is Schibsted with the Norwegian Blocket, Finn.no, who launched the same functionality a few months ago. I decided to have a chat with Babak Ayani, co-founder and CEO of Domytask.
What makes DoMyTask.se different from competitors like BUTLR and Finn.no?
Our focus has been to provide a service as userfriendly and simple to use as possible. That includes removing all extra steps and obstacles for getting help. As an example, unlike some of our competitors, you do not need to create an account and login to our service in order to post a job. Also, our main focus is on offering a service that will make life easier for people (both for those with limited time that need help and those who want to earn extra money) and not on maximizing profits. Therefore, unlike our competitors who charge between 10-20% of the transaction amount, we currently do not charge anything from either job posters or job performers.

What has been your biggest challenge so far?
We are offering a service that means a new user behaviour. People in Sweden are not used to getting help with different kind of errands from other individuals. A big challenge has been to convince people that it is safe to get help from other, for them, unknown people . We have come far in doing that but there is still more work to do. The fact that a majority of the people who have posted jobs on Domytask.se return to post more jobs and get more help shows that we are on the right track and have satisfied customers.
What is the next step for DoMyTask.se?
We have several exciting things in the loop but I don’t want to reveal them in detail in order to give anything away to our competitors. Our goal and vision is to be the leading marketplace for services, like Blocket is in Sweden but for services instead of physical products, and we are working hard to reach that goal.
