Aurore Belfrage, co-founder of Wrapp, on what it takes to succeed

Written by on March 6

For the past 6 years Aurore Belfrage has been working with digital and social marketing and has co-founded the global gift-card startup Wrapp. For now, she is working on Your Middle East, which is a media platform that started as a grassroots movement with a mission to work for positive change in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region

“Actually I’d have to nominate my pre-digital career in scrap dealing where I headed up scrap yards in Czech Rep. and Italy. That was a truly fascinating time as it was both a crash course in management & negotiation, a challenge in terms of me breaking all stereotypes of what a “proper” scrap dealer looks like and a rewarding environmental task.”

Why Wrapp is such a success

Aurore is one of the co-founders of Wrapp, the e-commerce and social gift-card startup. Aurore, who was in charge of the sales and partnerships with media and advertisement agencies, explains the success:

“Wrapp is a unique proposition that combines the power of social referrals, mobile, e-commerce and drives sales O2O. Meeting international and super savvy retailers and discussing how Wrapp can drive performance based sales in a non-intrusive way via social media was very rewarding. Obviously the key to success is to delight the users/wrappers and the community team at Wrapp both in SF and Stockholm are fantastic and I miss them!”

Since leaving Wrapp, Aurore joined the Your Middle East team where she immediately fell in love with the site and its ambitions. “I’m obviously super excited about joining the talented Your Middle East founders and taking our independent news platform and pool of amazing contributors to the next level”.

How to change the MENA region (and the world) for the better

The company is owned by Swedish founders who interestingly have no vested or official  interest in the MENA region, per say. “We are a private, for-profit company and Your Middle East challenges existing structures and looks for new paths with the aim to change MENA societies and the world for the better.””

“I fell in love with the site and its ambition immediately and knew I had to contribute. My experience with digital marketing, sales and social media customer acquisition complement the founder’s journalistic and media savviness, and so far we are having fun and are great team. Confession: Maybe my obsession for aubergine is my real subconscious reason…”

Aurore, has a few final words for all entrepreneurs working hard:

“Leap with your heart and then be prepared to work 24/7. I love the cliche – Your are never bigger than your dreams. So true – World domination. And you should do it with at least one partner, otherwise I imagine it being very lonely.”
