We wrote about electronic-music streaming service Revibe a couple of times last year – and they were definitely one of the most talked about companies of the year – earning them a spot in the annual Internetworld “hottest entrepreneurs” list.
Whilst the service has always been slick, and there is definitely a market that wants the app – the big knock on Revibe has always been content and licensing. Could they successfully build a good enough content library to lure electro fans away from Spotify and Rdio. Well, now they’ve signed a pretty landmark deal – with Sony Music.
It’s definitely worth keeping your eye on Revibe this year.
“It’s great fun to get Sony Music’s strong catalog to the service. That means not just collaborations with esteemed labels like Ultra, Disco: wax and CatchyTunes, but also great music from heavyweights such as Calvin Harris and Daft Punk together with Swedish dominants as well as others like Style of Eye and John de Sohn” said Magnus, CEO and one of the service’s three founders.
