A community for women in aspiring or established startups in Gothenburg

Written by on December 16

Merlind Sophia Hinz contacted us about a community that is forming as we speak in Gothenburg. We’ve seen similar events and communities like Geek Girl and Thursday Code Pub in Stockholm who targets women in startups and developers, and it’s now time for Gothenburg!

Coming from the startup Mecca Berlin, Merlind really miss having the opportunity to meet other likeminded women and get inspired by what they are trying to achieve.

I believe we can support each other and create a lively scene, even if Gothenburg sometimes feels like it isn’t the most innovative city in the world. It all depends on the members of this group so I hope the more people we attract, the more actively they will share their experiences and knowledge and the better this group gets.

The initial plan is to have regular regular meetings, lectures on different relevant topics such as marketing, taxes/accounting, law and business best practice, the lectures will be held by members in the community.

Sometimes it also might be enough to meet for a fika and discuss how the business is affecting our personal life or pick someone’s brain to find solutions for a specific issue.

The long-term goal is to maybe in the future create some kind of mentorship system.

Something very hands-on and practical, where people can get support from someone who’s really been where they are now (and not just some consultant who read a book about entrepreneurship…). But again, that is something in a distant future… I believe we can support each other and create a lively scene, even if Gothenburg sometimes feels like it isn’t the most innovative city in the world. It all depends on the members of this group so I hope the more people we attract, the more actively they will share their experiences and knowledge and the better this group gets.
