Anders spoke with Anders Nilsson from Moliday, who are aiming to redefine the media landscape and enable access to media without more apps or urls. Moliday’s offer is basically TV and social media merged with news, music and movies.
Tell us a bit about yourself, what is your background?
My background is as an entrepreneur which has given me a lot of experience mainly within the media and technical space. I’ve been working with both startups and at SMEs throughout the years and I’ve had the opportunity to learn and leverage this expertise in my ventures.
As the founder of Moliday, which began as a brainchild of mine, we, the team and I have been able to create a product that offers a seamless solution for online TV and social-media interaction.
Tell us more about Moliday and what problem the service solves
To discover content today should be easier, just one click away, as it was with the old TV-remote.
We don’t compete with Boxer, ComHem, Magine or Aereo – they all provide a service suitable for the market today. We add value, integrating social feeds and interactivity into the TV-watching experience.
In some countries, 40% of evening tweets are about what’s happening or just happened on TV. With our quick-links, it’s easy to share what you’re watching. With our Snapshot-tool you can take a picture of what you’re watching and share online – these tools and the mixture of content is what we are offering.
Our beta has been open for a little more than 4 weeks and we already can see trends and interesting behaviour among the users.
What do you mean by “redefining online media without adding more apps or urls”?
With the apps and url’s reference we’re talking about all the different apps and websites that a user needs to use today to consume media. Each media operator or TV channel have their own channels, so it’s really difficult for a consumer to switch medias.
We offer a platform where online media is merged, all content is available in one convenient space, and changing channels is just a click away.
This is a competitive space, what makes you unique?
It’s up to the consumer of course, but we believe that a country-by-country selection and mixture of media content and social feeds is the key.
We have a platform that is built to have add-on features, an app that both can be a mobile version and a remote and finally, a future API/ SDK will be open for developers to build on top of.
What are the next steps for Moliday?
Right now we are working on two major and important tasks.
- Our beta evaluation
- Growing Moliday’s user base.
We are attending WebSummit in Dublin, Ireland at the end of the month, and we are working on a partner program and an ambassador program that we intend to launch early 2014.
