It’s been extremely interesting to watch some of Sweden’s more traditional media companies look to digital and tech startups for inspiration over the last few years. MTG, Bonnier and Schibsted have all executed on initiatives to help foster entrepreneurship within their companies and also looked at ways to attract more entrepreneurial talent. Whilst Bonnier have been running their accelerator and Schibsted continue to assert their dominance within the marketplace/classified scene, MTGx are trying to attract the best tech companies within the broad spectrum of ‘entertainment’.
MTGx, the digital arm of Modern Times Group, have also just announced that they’ve hired Anil Hansjee to be their Chief Investment Officer. Anil was previously the Head of M&A at Google and has also advised the UK government on how to position London as an international tech hub.
“The hire of Anil will enable MTGx to work faster and closer with start-up and venture capital communities across the world, in order to be able to accelerate the development of new entertainment products and services,” said Rikard Steiber, Chief Digital Officer of Modern Times Group and CEO of MTGx.
